SUMMARY OF CURRENT RESEARCH INTERESTS
My clinical research interests are cataract surgery and intraocular lenses, phacolaser surgery, corneal surgery (penetrating keratoplasty, Descemet’s stripping endothelial keratoplasty, deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty), glaucoma surgery. The main focus of my laboratory research is to develop new translational treatments in antirejection and antiproliferative strategies in keratoplasty patients. I also teach phacosurgery and general ophthalmic surgery at Postgraduate Courses in the Fyodorov Eye State Institute. I am a visiting lecturer in Moscow State Medical and Dental University.

KEY ACHIEVEMENTS
Comprehensive investigation of cataract laser surgery (Nd:YAG 1.44 ́m laser) in relation to corneal endothelium. Proof of less corneal endothelial trauma induced by 1.44 Nd:YAG laser compared to ultrasound phacoemulsification (Ph.D. degree in Clinical Ophthalmology).
Research in long-term graft survival after primary penetrating low- risk keratoplasty (30 years follow – up, in collaboration with prof. Valentina Kopayeva).

Recent academic prizes: Best poster presentation awarded by Scientific Committee of Modern Technologies in Cataract and Refractive Surgery Conference (under the auspicies of the Fyodorov Eye State Institute, 2008).

Observership at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in the Corneal & External Eye Disease Service, 25th August - 3rd September 2008 (Certificate signed by Mr Paul Sullivan FRCS FRCOphth MD, Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon, Director of Education, Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, London, UK).
Member of Russian Society of Ophthalmologists.
Member of FIT – International Federation of Translators and Russian Union of Translators. I conduct simaltaneous translations at ophthalmological meetings for Russian and overseas specialists.

RESEARCH PROJECTS

Comprehensive investigation of penetrating keratoplasty long-term results (including confocal microsocopy).
Translational research in keratoplasty (genetic therapy – based approaches).
